About the position

The Assistant Team Leader is responsible for executing and overseeing the Dock A and Supermarket areas, training and supporting employees, and ensuring that key performance indicators (KPIs) are met. This role involves supporting Team Leaders in daily activities, stepping in as a Team Leader when necessary, and fostering effective communication across departments. The Assistant Team Leader will also be involved in safety training, incident documentation, and various logistical tasks, including SAP entries and material handling. The position requires adherence to safety protocols and participation in continuous improvement projects.

Responsibilities

  • Execute and oversee Dock A and Supermarket areas
  • Train and support Dock A and Supermarket Attendant employees
  • Support with KPI metrics
  • Complete and follow up on process flow
  • Support with continuous improvement projects
  • Support Team Leaders in day-to-day activity as needed
  • Step in as Team Leader backfill when team leader is out of business
  • Display BorgWarner core beliefs in every aspect of the role
  • Develop effective relationships across all departments and teams
  • Facilitate communication between team, support groups, and management
  • Perform all duties as outlined in the PC&L job description
  • Delegate daily duties to team members and support operator activities as necessary
  • Coordinate activities to ensure internal and external customer's needs are met
  • Support with Monthly Safety training
  • Support with investigation and documentation for all safety incidents
  • Perform SAP entries and transactions as needed
  • Use appropriate hold tags to process defective parts through nonconforming material procedure
  • Wear all required PPE and follow safety protocols
  • Manually load, unload, and/or maneuver materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, baskets, and shelves
  • Support 5S / Housekeeping activities as required
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High School diploma, GED or basic skills assessment required
  • 1 year of physical logistics related experience preferred
  • Knowledge of Dock A and Supermarket Processes preferred
  • Experience with SAP/ERP systems and operation of PIT
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions
  • Knowledge of SAP inventory software, excel spreadsheet software, and word processing software
