About the position

The Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services plays a crucial role in supporting the Superintendent in leading the development and maintenance of high-quality educational programs and services within the district. This position involves overseeing curriculum development, supervising instructional programs, and ensuring alignment with state academic standards. The Assistant Superintendent will also facilitate communication among staff, coordinate grant programs, and lead staff development initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Superintendent in directing the administration and coordination of the district's educational programs.
  • Communicate the requirements and needs of the district as perceived by staff to the Superintendent.
  • Oversee curriculum development within the district and ensure alignment with state academic standards.
  • Serve as a communication source for teachers and staff regarding curriculum matters.
  • Evaluate instructional programs and improve teaching procedures through various supervisory methods.
  • Coordinate and implement district grant programs, including federal Title programs.
  • Initiate and administer staff development for certified and administrative personnel.
  • Order materials, equipment, and supplies necessary for educational objectives.
  • Attend local, state, and regional meetings related to educational programs.
  • Collect and disseminate research information on program effectiveness and instructional alternatives.
  • Develop, coordinate, and implement the district's summer school/intersession program.
  • Ensure curriculum and instruction align with district testing requirements.
  • Facilitate and assist principals in curriculum supervision and alignment.
  • Collaborate with the S.T.E.M. and Assessment Director on state assessments.
  • Supervise in-service programs to improve curriculum and instruction.
  • Supervise the implementation of the district's English Language Learner (ELL) program.
  • Participate in long-range planning for instruction, programs, and curriculum.
  • Assist in the evaluation of certified and classified staff as requested by the Superintendent.
  • Work collaboratively with the high school district on program implementation.
  • Attend district and Governing Board meetings as required.
  • Coordinate public relations efforts for the district.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree or higher in education or a related field.
  • Arizona Superintendent Certificate.
  • Three (3) years' experience as a K-8 Administrator.
  • Three (3) years' experience supervising or developing curriculum and instruction.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching and leading.
  • Desire and willingness to work cooperatively with faculty and administration.
  • Proficient in the essential elements of instruction.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write Spanish preferred.
