Hollywood Feed was established in the 1950s, in Memphis, TN, as a pet supply store with friendly and knowledgeable service. The Assistant Store Manager reports to the Store Manager and supports the manager with the aim of improving business performance and customer satisfaction and holding to Hollywood Feed’s #1 Policy 'Do what is right by the customer.'

Responsibilities

  • Communicate openly and respectfully with supervisors, corporate office, and coworkers
  • Work a minimum of 40 hours per week
  • Complete 3 closing shifts per week
  • Work 3 Saturdays per month
  • Attend the annual Assistant Store Manager Meeting in person
  • Ensure that all Hollywood Feed policies and procedures are being followed, including compliance with legal requirements
  • Lead employees in the Hollywood Feed Standards of Business with a clean, organized, and safe location to ensure the protection of both customers and employees
  • Demonstrate leadership by maintaining excellent customer service skills
  • Lead employees in efficiently operating the store location by ensuring the team completes all daily tasks thoroughly and correctly
  • Ensure positive, long-term customer relationships by modeling how to resolve issues, anticipate and address customer needs
  • Reach out into the community by attending or creating events to interact with the public via social media and maintain the store’s online presence
  • Work with Store Manager to support the business and store goals
  • Execute administrative tasks thoroughly, correctly and timely
  • Confirm daily sales reports and cash receipts; ensure monies are deposited regularly, and reports are submitted as prescribed by company policies
  • Ensure Warehouse/Vendor orders are processed correctly when received, using the company point of sale system
  • Research, analyze, communicate and correct discrepancies with the appropriate department
  • Ensure that employees are thoroughly and accurately completing the required monthly cycle count and proactively doing weekly spot inventory counts
  • Work alongside team to place and rotate merchandise to attract positive attention from customers
  • Support the development goals for store employees
  • Foster and cultivate a positive sales team with the expectation of growing store sales through proper training, communication, incentives, and empowering employees to take responsibility for their job and the store’s goals
  • Support and encourage the conflict resolution process

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience
  • The love and dedication to animals is an essential requirement for Hollywood Feed’s culture
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to create and present ideas, and reports in various formats
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with employees
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to assign and delegate tasks
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a minimum of 2 years driving experience (This time frame can include learner’s permit)
