About the position

The Assistant Store Manager at Ross is responsible for managing and supervising various store operations, ensuring compliance with company policies, and leading the team in the absence of the Store Manager. This role focuses on organizational development, expense control, customer service, merchandise processing, and loss prevention, all while maintaining a positive work environment and promoting the company's brand values.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in recruiting, hiring, training, and developing non-exempt Associates.
  • Ensure compliance with Ross personnel policies and procedures.
  • Assist with Associate Relations issues by communicating incidents to the Store Manager or District Manager.
  • Manage and monitor actual expenditures to stay within budget.
  • Control payroll hours to plan and adjust to current business trends.
  • Treat all Customers, Associates, and leaders with respect and professionalism.
  • Execute Customer service programs and Merchandise Presentation programs through Associate training.
  • Supervise and coach Retail Associates in providing efficient and friendly service.
  • Represent and support the Company brand at all times.
  • Maintain a clean, neat, and easy-to-shop environment in the Store.
  • Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns are completed to Company standards.
  • Manage merchandise processing to the sales floor within the expected timeframe.
  • Train Associates on Loss Prevention awareness and Store shortage goals.
  • Demonstrate integrity and honesty in all interactions with Associates and Customers.
  • Assist in leading the annual inventory process and monitor mark-out-of-stock policy.

Requirements

  • Two or more years of Store or Assistant Store Manager experience in a retail environment.
  • Ability to supervise, motivate, and communicate positively to Store Associates at all levels.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize, give direction, and follow through to completion.
  • Ability to set priorities and exercise independent judgment.
  • Maintain high quality of Customer service.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
