The Assistant Supervisor - Janitorial position at MDA, Fort Bliss, Texas, is a full-time role requiring 40 hours of work per week, with a schedule from 6:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. The role involves assisting the supervisor in managing janitorial staff and ensuring that cleaning operations meet contractual obligations. The Assistant Supervisor will help in various administrative tasks, including payroll management, employee training, and maintaining quality standards in cleaning practices.

Responsibilities

  • Assist supervisor in employing a zone labor force of adequate size and capability to accomplish all work as scheduled.
  • Assist supervisor in interviewing and selecting prospective candidates for possible employment.
  • Assist supervisor in orienting new employees and explaining their duties.
  • Assist supervisor in indoctrinating employees in procedures for reporting and responding to emergencies.
  • Assist supervisor in ensuring personnel are trained in safe and up-to-date cleaning procedures.
  • Assist supervisor in making work assignments and following up on performance.
  • Assist supervisor in performing zone workload balancing monthly.
  • Assist supervisor in maintaining company attendance records and reviewing results with project management.
  • Assist supervisor in managing payroll records and submitting them to the Office Manager.
  • Assist supervisor in maintaining a company journal of significant events.
  • Assist supervisor in arranging access to buildings for janitorial work outside normal hours.
  • Assist supervisor in ensuring employees lock restricted areas after cleaning.
  • Assist supervisor in scheduling periodic floor work to ensure compliance with performance standards.
  • Assist supervisor in inspecting areas for quality cleaning and proper supply management.
  • Assist supervisor in maintaining discipline and handling employee conduct issues.
  • Assist supervisor in writing performance appraisals for employees.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Prior experience with up-to-date general cleaning practices and procedures.
  • 1-3 years' experience in management of janitorial employees.
  • Experience supervising personnel with disabilities under a collective bargaining agreement.
  • Knowledge of completing and maintaining company records for payroll, supply requisitions, etc.
  • Knowledge of contract statement of work.
  • Experience in producing work schedules based on workload.
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record.
  • Ability to communicate with tact and maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong organizational, project planning, and management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
