About the position

The Assistant Security Guard Supervisor is responsible for managing daily security operations and supervising a team of Housing and Residence Life Security Guards at on-campus residential facilities. This role is essential for ensuring the safety and security of a residential student population of approximately 6,300. The Assistant Supervisor acts as a liaison between professional staff and security personnel, providing training, oversight, and support to maintain effective security measures.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily security operations for on-campus residential facilities.
• Directly supervise and train 27 Housing and Residence Life Security Guards.
• Conduct regular visits to all residential areas during each shift for observation and supervision.
• Make recommendations for hiring and disciplinary actions for Security Guards.
• Respond to emergencies and provide backup support to Security Guards.
• Collaborate with Housing Facilities staff to maintain the integrity of the centralized loan key system.
• Ensure consistent implementation of departmental and University policies and security measures.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• One year of experience in security, enforcement, or protection work.
• Valid N.C. driver's license may be required.
• At least five years of security-related experience preferred (e.g., police, corrections officer, military police, or supervising private security).
• Management or lead experience is preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Google Mail.
• Willingness to work third shift and in a team environment.
• Strong communication skills and a good work history.
