Assistant Project Manager Commercial Construction - Flooring Projects Buffalo, NY Looking for the next step after your first construction job? Our client, a rapidly growing commercial flooring contractor serving major construction projects across New York State, is looking for an Assistant Project Manager to join their Buffalo office. This role is ideal for someone with 1- 3 years of experience in construction or a construction adjacent industry who is ready to take the next step in their career and begin running projects, learning estimating, and eventually managing their own book of work. The person in this role will work closely with senior leadership and project managers to help coordinate and execute commercial construction projects. Over time, this position evolves into managing projects independently and potentially moving into client facing support roles. What You'll Do As an Assistant Project Manager, you will support and eventually lead various aspects of commercial flooring projects from kickoff through completion. Responsibilities include: Assist with managing commercial construction projects from start to finish Coordinate with project managers, field installers, warehouse staff, and customers Help build project schedules and track progress against timelines Communicate regularly with general contractors and job site teams Conduct site visits to review progress and address field needs Track materials, lead times, and installation sequencing Help prepare change orders, project documentation, and close-out materials Review project costs and help ensure jobs remain on budget Support estimating activities including takeoffs, bids, and proposals Help identify and solve project challenges quickly and proactively Over time, strong performers will begin owning projects, managing job profitability, and potentially developing client relationships.
