About the position

The Assistant Program Manager at Samaritan's Purse plays a crucial role in supporting and implementing plans for the Disaster Relief program. This position involves recruiting and training volunteers, fostering relationships with churches and other organizations, and ensuring readiness for disaster response. The role emphasizes a strong Christian witness and the importance of prayer and devotion in daily activities.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Program Manager with all aspects of disaster response, focusing on homeowners and volunteers.
  • Implement a volunteer training plan and conduct safety briefings.
  • Foster relationships with churches, government agencies, and other relief organizations.
  • Recruit churches and local leaders for disaster recovery efforts.
  • Maintain awareness of disaster activity across the U.S. and monitor weather-related incidents.
  • Oversee financial transactions and submit activity reports.
  • Represent the ministry at conferences and speaking engagements.
  • Participate in daily morning devotions and prayer support for the ministry.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university and 2-3 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to obtain a Class A restricted driver's license and a valid Department of Transportation Medical card.
  • Working knowledge of general construction and chainsaw use.
  • General knowledge of Excel and Word, with the ability to learn in-house applications.
  • Highly effective communication skills, including written and public speaking.
  • Ability to work well under pressure in difficult situations with limited resources.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing conditions and build effective teams.
  • Ability to analyze data to determine volunteer needs and deployment forecasts.
  • 12 credit hours of college-level Biblical Studies from an accredited institution.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in disaster relief or emergency management.
  • Familiarity with community outreach and engagement strategies.
