About The Position

Resources for Human Development (RHD) is seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant Program Director to support the daily operations of our program while helping to ensure high-quality services for the individuals we support. Working in partnership with the Program Director, the Assistant Program Director provides leadership, supervision, and operational oversight to program staff, while promoting person-centered services, regulatory compliance, and organizational excellence. The Assistant Program Director assists with staff recruitment, training, supervision, quality assurance, and program operations. This role requires strong leadership, effective communication, and a commitment to RHD's values of dignity, respect, diversity, and person-centered care.

Requirements

  • Valid Pennsylvania driver's license with a minimum of three (3) years of driving experience.
  • Access to a reliable, insured personal vehicle for work-related travel.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required clearances, including: Pennsylvania Child Abuse Clearance, Pennsylvania State Police Criminal History Check, FBI Criminal Background Check (if applicable).
  • Ability to successfully complete all required trainings and certifications.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience providing direct services in the mental health, behavioral health, or intellectual/developmental disabilities (IDD) field preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
  • Experience with staff development, program operations, and regulatory compliance strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of person-centered practices and trauma-informed approaches preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and supervision to Site Supervisors, Program Specialists, Medical Staff, and Direct Support Professionals.
  • Support daily program operations, ensuring quality service delivery and compliance with program standards.
  • Assist with staff recruitment, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and orientation processes.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, performance feedback, and ongoing professional development to team members.
  • Support supervision documentation and assist with corrective action and progressive discipline processes when necessary.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive, and collaborative work environment.
  • Monitor implementation of individual service plans and ensure accurate, timely documentation.
  • Review program records and site documentation to prepare for internal and external audits.
  • Assist in maintaining compliance with licensing, funding, accreditation, and organizational requirements.
  • Conduct site visits and provide operational support across program locations as needed.
  • Identify opportunities for program improvement and support implementation of best practices.
  • Provide support, guidance, and intervention during behavioral, medical, or programmatic crises.
  • Help create environments that empower individuals to achieve personal goals and maximize independence.
  • Coordinate resources and supportive services to meet the needs of individuals served.
  • Ensure services are delivered in an ethical, professional, and person-centered manner.
  • Assist the Program Director in managing program operations within budgetary guidelines.
  • Support compliance with funder requirements, contractual obligations, and organizational policies.
  • Participate in meetings, trainings, audits, and other organizational initiatives.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
