The School of Information Studies (SOIS) offers several educational programs: a Bachelor of Science in Information Science and Technology (BSIST); a Masters of Science in Information Science and Technology (MSIST) degree in partnership with the Department of Computer Science; an ALA-accredited Masters of Library and Information Science (MLIS); several coordinated graduate degree programs, including Health Informatics; transcript-designated concentrations within the MLIS Archival Studies, Public Libraries, Information Organization, and Information Technology; post-masters Certificates of Advanced Study in Archives and Records Management and Digital Libraries; and a PhD in Information Studies. The School has a strong research faculty, more than 900 students, and state-of-the-art information technology. The information professions are changing rapidly, and future information professionals will need expertise in the application of artificial intelligence (AI). As part of our growing, strategic focus on AI along with data science, SOIS is inviting applications for a full-time tenure track Assistant Professor position. The candidate will join us in preparing future information professionals to understand and apply AI-based technologies and techniques in various information organizations, including libraries, archives and private organizations, to add value by solving real-world problems. This is a 9-month position with potential for teaching opportunities in the summer.
