About the position

The Assistant Professor position in Public Lands Management/Natural Resource Governance at Utah State University (USU) is a tenure-track role focused on developing a robust online and hybrid teaching portfolio. The position emphasizes teaching, research, and community engagement, particularly in the context of Moab's unique landscape. The successful candidate will contribute to the Recreation Resource Management degree and mentor graduate students in various programs.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver educational programs from USU-Moab, leveraging the unique landscape and land use history of the area.
  • Teach three to four courses per year, including online, video conferencing, and in-person experiential courses.
  • Build a community-engaged teaching and research program.
  • Mentor graduate students in ENVS's MS and PhD programs and QCNR's Master of Natural Resources program.
  • Participate in faculty duties and engage in professional involvement beyond USU.
  • Potentially serve as a Faculty Fellow in the Institute of Outdoor Recreation and Tourism.

Requirements

  • Earned Ph.D. in a field closely related to public lands management or natural resource governance by the date of hire.
  • Demonstrated experience or interest in teaching about public lands management and natural resource governance.
