About the position
Florida A&M University's (FAMU) Physics department is pleased to announce the acceptance of qualified applications for a tenure track assistant professor vacancy starting August 2025 in Theoretical Physics. Florida A&M University, a Historically Black University, offers the B.S., M.S., Ph.D., in Physics, and is situated in Tallahassee Florida within 2 miles from both the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory and Florida State University. FAMU is particularly interested in candidates with experiences that have prepared them for FAMU's institutional commitment to serving traditionally underrepresented populations in Physics.
Responsibilities
- Teach both undergraduate and graduate level physics courses
- Direct research at both undergraduate and graduate levels
- Conduct research in condensed matter physics, atomic, molecular, and optical physics, high energy physics, plasma physics, and astrophysics/astronomy
- Collaborate with existing faculty and facilities
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Physics at the time of application submission
- Postdoctoral experience is required
- Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Commitment to serving traditionally underrepresented populations in physics
