About the position

The University of North Carolina Wilmington is seeking applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science. This full-time role, beginning in August 2025, involves teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in various computer science topics, maintaining an active research program, and mentoring students.

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in computer science, focusing on areas such as computer architecture, operating systems, algorithms, and programming languages.
  • Maintain an active research program in computer science or related fields.
  • Mentor undergraduate and graduate students in their academic and research pursuits.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. or equivalent research-focused doctoral degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related area with at least 18 hours of graduate coursework in the discipline.
  • Candidates for the Associate rank must currently hold that rank at their institution.
  • ABD candidates will be considered if they expect to complete their doctorate before the appointment date.

Nice-to-haves

  • Research and teaching interests in computer architecture, operating systems, algorithms, programming language principles, or computer networks.
  • Previous teaching experience at the undergraduate level.
