About the position

Kenyon College invites applications for a tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor of Studio Art specializing in 4D Media and New Genres. The role is designed for a visual artist who integrates emerging technologies into their practice and demonstrates interdisciplinary expertise in digital media manipulation. The successful candidate will engage with contemporary issues in media arts and art history, teaching courses that foster socially-engaged awareness in various fields.

Responsibilities

  • Teach courses in 4D Media and New Genres, including experimental video and interactive art.
  • Develop and deliver challenging conceptual content that addresses contemporary issues in media arts.
  • Engage in sustained scholarly research and/or creative work appropriate to the position.
  • Participate in academic advising, institutional service, and departmental engagement.
  • Teach one section of the advanced multidisciplinary capstone sequence.

Requirements

  • MFA in a Fine Art field.
  • Strong teaching skills with experience at the college level.
  • Demonstrated regular exhibition record at the national level.
  • In-depth knowledge of experimental video and emerging technologies.
  • Advanced proficiency in production and post-production workflows, particularly with Adobe CC.

Nice-to-haves

  • Expertise in data-driven arts, AI imaging, computational art, and performance art.
  • Ability to communicate the relevance of art in a liberal arts environment.
