About the position

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Assistant Professor of Architectural History and Theory within the School of Architecture. This tenure-track role involves teaching and developing courses that critically engage with historical and theoretical frameworks in architecture, while also contributing to research and interdisciplinary collaboration. The successful candidate will play a key role in enhancing the academic environment and strategic goals of the School of Architecture.

Responsibilities

  • Teach lecture/seminar and design studio courses at undergraduate and/or graduate levels.
  • Engage in teaching and scholarship that contributes to the understanding and improvement of architectural history, theory, and design.
  • Collaborate with students, faculty, and administrative leaders to enhance the School of Architecture's strategic goals.
  • Pursue external funding to support research/scholarship/creative activity agenda.
  • Contribute to University, College, and School governance, including committee assignments and curricular assessment.
  • Participate in the recruitment and mentorship of students.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) from an accredited college or university.
  • Strong record of, or potential for, scholarly research and/or creative work in architectural histories and theories.
  • Evidence of teaching ability in the histories and theories of architecture at the university level.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficiency in teaching the architectural histories and theories of under-represented groups.
  • Experience working with diverse populations and fostering an inclusive educational environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Record of externally funded projects, research, and/or creative activity.
