About the position

The Assistant Professor, Instruction and Assessment Librarian at Adams Library is responsible for providing vision and collaborative leadership for the Library instruction program. This role includes promoting alignment of the Library's instructional activities with the Library's instruction plan and student learning outcomes, as well as academic program learning outcomes. The position also involves facilitating communication and shared development for library instruction activities and leading assessment and reporting activities related to instruction. Additionally, the librarian will participate in the Library's liaison program and provide collection development, workshops, orientation, information literacy instruction, and research consultation services for students and faculty, primarily for the Zvart Onanian School of Nursing and health sciences programs. Some evening and/or weekend work is required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership for the ongoing implementation and updating of the Library's instruction program.
  • Promote alignment across Library's instruction activities with library and college student learning outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively with library faculty and staff to create and assess research and instructional tools and resources.
  • Deliver classes and workshops to support information literacies across the College.
  • Collaborate on the creation of instructional materials, outcomes, and activities.
  • Participate in the Library's outreach and instructional activities in undergraduate courses.
  • Develop print and online guides, instructional materials, tutorials, and other resources to support information literacy instruction.
  • Develop assessment tools and assess classes, tools, and student information literacy development.
  • Collaborate with the Director of the Adams Library to gather assessment data and prepare reports.
  • Provide research services and in-depth research consultations for faculty, students, and staff.
  • Serve as the liaison for designated departments/programs to facilitate communication about library services.
  • Monitor and evaluate trends and developments relevant to academic libraries.
  • Commit to continuing development of teaching skills and ongoing evaluation of teaching.
  • Participate in library, college, and professional committees, and professional development activities.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited program or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated teaching experience, preferably in a higher education or academic library setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to work creatively, collaboratively, and effectively as a team leader and member.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach effectively in various settings and modalities.
  • Demonstrated commitment to public service with experience in providing library reference and research support.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current and emerging trends in information literacy and assessment.
  • Excellent presentation, oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience working in diverse groups and contributions to equity and inclusion.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
