About the position

The School of Liberal Arts & Public Service is seeking an Assistant Professor of History to begin Fall 2025. The Assistant Professor has the primary responsibility of instruction in the classroom for students enrolled in History courses, as well as ensuring the success and retention of students while maintaining high academic standards. Campus location to be determined.

Responsibilities

  • Engage in successful pedagogical practices that cultivate respect and understanding of individual differences.
  • Teach courses at multiple campus sites, including Dual Credit and Concurrent high school sections, all days and times, and via all modalities.
  • Design and deliver student learning experiences and assess student progress.
  • Provide constructive and timely communication with students and colleagues.
  • Guide and mentor students in and outside the classroom to promote their success.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to promote learning and professional growth.
  • Engage in ongoing professional growth and development.
  • Serve the college and community as an active contributing professional.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in History or Master's Degree with 18 hours of graduate hours in History.
  • Philosophy compatible with that of a comprehensive urban community college.
  • Experience in developing, facilitating, and assessing learning experiences.

Nice-to-haves

  • Ph.D. preferred.
  • Preference for 20th Century World History experience/credentials.
  • Ability to teach introductory courses in World History (ancient to contemporary) and/or Geography.
  • Teaching experience at the community college or university level.
