About the position

We seek applicants who are dedicated to serving The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley's student body as an Assistant Professor of Health & Human Performance beginning in the 2025-2026 academic year. The position is a nine-month, tenure-track faculty position. The responsibilities include establishing and maintaining a focused research agenda, procurement of external grants, participation in scholarly committees and taskforces, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in exercise science or kinesiology, and performing other duties assigned by the department chair. Given that UTRGV is a distributed campus, faculty will be required to teach in a variety of settings, incorporating technology and student-engaged pedagogies to maximize student success, and may be assigned to teach face-to-face, hybrid, and/or online courses. Service to the department, college, university, community, and professional organizations is an integral part of the faculty member's responsibilities.

Requirements

  • An earned doctorate in Exercise Science or related fields from an accredited university
  • Candidates with ABD status will be considered, as long as the degree is conferred prior to the beginning of the fall 2025 session
  • Earned doctorate degree in exercise science is preferred
  • Record of success or evidence of potential in research, teaching, and service
