About the position

The University of South Dakota is seeking an Assistant Professor in Biology with a focus on Ecological Genomics. This tenure-track position is set to begin in August 2025 and involves a combination of research, teaching, and mentoring responsibilities. The successful candidate will utilize genomics and bioinformatics to explore ecological and evolutionary questions, while also contributing to the department's undergraduate and graduate programs.

Responsibilities

  • Use genomics and/or bioinformatics to address ecological/evolutionary questions.
  • Conduct research that complements existing faculty work, enabling collaboration and mentoring of students.
  • Teach courses including Introductory Biology and upper division courses in Genetics, Evolution, Biostatistics, or other relevant subjects.
  • Establish a productive and extramurally funded research program that engages undergraduate students and trains M.S. and Ph.D. students.

Requirements

  • A Ph.D. in Biology or a closely related field is required.
  • Postdoctoral experience is preferred.
