About the position

The Assistant Professor of Architecture at South Dakota State University is a tenure-track position focused on teaching, research, and service within the School of Design. The role emphasizes a collaborative environment that values interdisciplinary initiatives and aims to enhance the national and international recognition of the architecture program. The successful candidate will engage in teaching courses, conducting research, and contributing to the university's mission of access to education.

Responsibilities

• Teach courses within the professional curriculum, including design studios, lectures, seminars, and workshops.
• Carry out a dynamic and robust agenda of research, scholarship, and creative activity.
• Extend research/scholarship/creative activity agenda into the teaching environment.
• Provide service to the discipline, university, and community.
• Teach in multi-disciplinary courses within the School of Design.

Requirements

• Professional degree in Architecture or related field from a NAAB accredited institution or international equivalent by time of appointment.
• PhD in Architecture or a related field by time of appointment.
• Potential to develop and teach academic coursework in one or more of the disciplinary content areas.
• Potential to develop a peer-reviewed research/scholarship/creative activity agenda in the discipline, especially design process and design pedagogy.
• Effective written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves
