About the position

Shrewsbury Public Schools is currently accepting applications for an Assistant Principal at Oak Middle School to begin on July 1, 2025. This is a benefits-eligible position. We are interested in candidates who are invested in the achievement, equity, and access of all learners in and beyond the classroom. The Assistant Principal is an important part of the school leadership team and assists the principal in the operation and leadership of the school, including curriculum and program development, scheduling, student services, teacher supervision and student discipline. The Assistant Principal will need to develop and maintain strong collaborative parent, staff, and community relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the principal in the operation and leadership of the school.
  • Lead or assist with selection of faculty and staff.
  • Work with other leaders and faculty members to develop student schedules.
  • Develop the master schedule.
  • Oversee student support services.
  • Work with faculty and students on co-curricular activities.
  • Supervise and monitor student attendance.
  • Involve parents in the educational process.
  • Conduct teacher observations and evaluations.
  • Maintain a respectful environment throughout the school community.
  • Coordinate building facility needs.
  • Coordinate transportation and food service needs.
  • Support curriculum and professional development programs.
  • Implement student assessments.
  • Serve as a grade-level administrator.

Requirements

  • Master's degree or beyond.
  • Principal/Assistant Principal Licensure from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
  • Demonstrated leadership at the middle school level.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with the entire Oak middle school community.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Strong technology skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple areas of responsibility in a fast-paced environment.
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends for student events.
  • Demonstrate the core values of Shrewsbury Public Schools and Oak Middle School.
  • Work flexibly in a changing school environment.
