About the position

The Assistant Principal is responsible for coordinating and supporting school-related matters essential to the efficiency and effectiveness of the principal. This role involves engaging teachers in curriculum implementation, monitoring standards-based curriculum, and using assessment data to enhance student learning and achievement. The Assistant Principal will also assist in developing performance standards, promoting a positive school atmosphere, and ensuring effective organizational processes within the school.

Responsibilities

  • Engage teachers in cooperative planning for curriculum implementation.
  • Assist the principal in monitoring and evaluating the implementation of a standards-based curriculum.
  • Engage teachers in the use of assessment data to design and adjust instruction to maximize student learning and achievement.
  • Assist the principal with engaging teachers in the collaborative analysis of assessment data for continuous improvement.
  • Lead teachers to accept collective responsibility for school improvement and student achievement.
  • Support job-embedded professional learning aligned with school improvement goals.
  • Assist in evaluating the implementation and impact of professional learning on teacher practices and student learning.
  • Drive and sustain change in a collegial environment focused on continuous improvement.
  • Assist the principal in developing performance standards and instructional objectives with teachers.
  • Engage participants in collaborative work and provide support systems for personalized learning.
  • Promote a positive, creative atmosphere for growth and development.
  • Model continuous learning by maintaining a personal plan for self-improvement.
  • Nurture faculty, staff, and stakeholders during change processes.
  • Coordinate the functions of the total building staff with the principal.
  • Serve as the school's communication agent.
  • Supervise and enforce attendance procedures and assist with discipline problems.
  • Supervise student behavior and safety in various campus areas.
  • Engage teachers in the use of formative assessment for effective feedback.
  • Assist in developing action plans based on school culture analysis.
  • Implement processes that support an academic climate with high expectations.
  • Coordinate maintenance programs for facilities and equipment.
  • Integrate curricula across subject areas.
  • Promote effective and balanced assessment techniques.
  • Manage operations within Georgia public education rules and regulations.
  • Collaborate to implement fiscal policies for resource distribution.
  • Ensure compliance with Georgia and federal requirements.
  • Assist in preparing the school budget with staff support.
  • Coordinate the use of facilities, instructional materials, and equipment.
  • Select or develop instruments to analyze beliefs and processes in the school.
  • Promote technology use to support instruction.
  • Collaborate with peers, administration, and parents for student success.
  • Provide job-embedded professional learning and supervise building staff.
  • Evaluate professional and non-professional staff members.
  • Interview prospective candidates and make recommendations for employment.
  • Coordinate all aspects of the school's educational program.
  • Respond to faculty personnel problems.

Requirements
