About The Position

The Assistant Principal will be responsible for supporting the site Principal in providing leadership to the school with primary duties being in the area of Athletics and Operations. This role involves supervising and coordinating athletic and activities programs, managing facility use and scheduling, assessing student progress, and supervising/evaluating staff. The position requires effective communication with various stakeholders and staying current on relevant laws and policies. The Assistant Principal will also coordinate daily school operations, manage budgets, and oversee campus events.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree with coursework in Administration
  • Valid AZ Department of Education Principal Certificate
  • Successful experience in Teaching Secondary Education
  • Commitment to active student learning
  • Evidence of cooperative and caring human relationships, and team building skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of secondary school education and administration.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills as well as attention to detail.
  • Strong computer skills and ability to analyze data in various applications including excel.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the site Principal and work collaboratively as part of the administrative team to provide a safe, engaging, and relevant educational experience for students.
  • Supervise and coordinate the athletic and activities programs of the school.
  • Coordinate the use of school facilities and scheduling.
  • Use multiple sources of data to assess student progress and plan for school improvement.
  • Incorporate academic and behavior modifications in an effective manner to assist students in learning and growing.
  • Supervise and evaluate teachers and other staff as assigned.
  • Communicate effectively with the stakeholders (teachers, staff, students, parents/guardians, community members, other administrators, district office staff) about the pertinent areas under your supervision.
  • Attend/lead meetings pertinent to the primary duties of one’s role at the school and district levels.
  • Stay current on relevant laws, policies, and procedures in fulfilling job responsibilities.
  • Coordinate the daily operations of the school.
  • Hire and supervise coaches and club sponsors.
  • Hire and supervise security staff.
  • Coordinate school maintenance staff.
  • Coordinate and maintain athletic schedules.
  • Maintain the school activities calendar.
  • Coordinate the use of campus facilities.
  • Maintain the Athletic budget and oversee school auxiliary and student accounts.
  • Coordinate the clearance and eligibility checks of student athletes.
  • Coordinate transportation and process vehicle requisitions.
  • Coordinate and supervise campus events, including athletics, fine arts, and activities.
  • Coordinate parent organizations and volunteers.
  • Assist in coordinating enrollment and registration of students.
  • Assist with administering student discipline in conjunction with the conduct policy of the district as needed.
  • Provide campus and event supervision.
  • Attend Full Cabinet and Operations Cabinet meetings at the district level.
