About the position
The Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) in the Surgical Department at the Veterans Affairs Health Administration plays a crucial role in enhancing leadership and career growth within the nursing team. Responsibilities
- Engage in professional organizations to enhance leadership and career growth.
- Adhere to ethical principles in decision-making and foster accountability at personal, organizational, and staff levels.
- Equip staff with tools for culturally competent care and promote a culture of accountability for high-quality outcomes.
- Develop time schedules and complete performance evaluations for nursing staff.
- Recommend disciplinary actions and manage performance improvement initiatives.
- Ensure patient and employee safety, customer service, and satisfaction.
- Maintain standards of care and practice, and ensure compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards.
- Develop and manage collaborative partnerships with physicians and other clinicians.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens.
- Graduation from a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate accrediting agency.
- Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a state, territory, or commonwealth of the U.S.
- Proficiency in basic written and spoken English.
