About the position
The Assistant Men's & Women's Tennis Coach at Hampton University plays a crucial role in supporting the Head Coach in managing all aspects of a Division I Tennis program. This includes responsibilities in coaching, recruiting, academic monitoring, and community engagement, aimed at building a competitive team and ensuring the well-being of student-athletes.
Responsibilities
- Assist in coaching and instructing student-athletes in proper techniques and decision-making in Tennis.
- Perform routine daily responsibilities related to the operation of the sports program, including computer data entry and compliance logs required by the NCAA.
- Recruit acceptable student-athletes for the HU athletic program, identifying those who are athletically and academically prepared.
- Adhere to all institution, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations.
- Report all known NCAA violations in accordance with institutional, conference, and NCAA policies and guidelines.
- Oversee the academic and personal well-being of student-athletes.
- Assist in building a nationally competitive Division I program through successful recruiting and retention of high-level student-athletes.
- Collaborate with the Head Coach, Athletic Trainers, and Strength & Conditioning Coach to design conditioning programs for the academic year and summer.
- Assist with budgeting, reconciling expenses, and proposing purchases for the sports program.
- Serve as a key liaison to the broader HU community, engaging in alumni, fundraising, and other key stakeholder activities.
- Perform other administrative duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree.
- Strong computer skills and related software capability.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to organize and supervise student-athletes.
- Availability to travel on weekends and holidays, as needed.
