Assistant in Nursing CSSD
About The Position
The Mater Private Hospital Redlands' Perioperative Department is searching for an experienced, enthusiastic and energetic Assistant in Nursing to work within our Centralised Sterile Services Department (CSSD) on a permanent part-time 24 hours per week basis. Flexibility is required as you will be required to work a range of shifts Monday to Saturday plus participate in the on-call roster. Mater Private Hospital Redland offers the opportunity to be exposed to different areas of Redlands Mater Private Hospital and gain valuable experience. Mater Private Hospital Redland has been supporting Brisbane's Bayside community since 2000 and is Redland Shire's only private hospital facility. Located in the suburb of Cleveland, the 60-bed hospital features 3 operating theatres, 2 endosuits and a wide range of specialised surgical and medical services.
Requirements
- Must hold or be currently enrolled in a Certificate III in Sterilisation Services (Mandatory)
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including standing for long periods, pushing heavy trolleys, and lifting instrument trays (up to 10kg)
- Proficiency in computer skills and experience navigating digital instrument tracking software
- Proven knowledge in undertaking sterile services functions at an operational level within a hospital or large organization
- An understanding of and commitment to the Mater Mission and Values, applying them practically within the department
- Effective interpersonal skills to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team and engage with service partners
- Experience in Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) issues and a commitment to Best Practice systems

Responsibilities
- Support the theatre and CSSD team in activities that ensure the provision of a safe and efficient sterilising service.
- Participate in hospital quality management systems in the unit to ensure a continuous improvement focus.
- Decontamination & Assembly: Manual and automated cleaning, inspection, and packing of surgical trays and specialised equipment’s.
- System Tracking: Accurate documentation and data entry using electronic tracking systems (T-Doc) to manage the instrument lifecycle.
- Sterilization: Operating autoclaves and monitoring sterilization cycles in line with Best Practice.
- Specialised Processing: Handling loan set processing and endoscope reprocessing (desirable).
- Quality & Safety: Engaging with Risk Management, Continuous Quality Improvement, and WHS systems.
