About The Position

Join the Sterling hospitality team to support high‑volume guest experiences while leading, inspiring, and coaching Tasting Room Associates to deliver exceptional service and drive direct‑to‑consumer results. This role focuses on Sterling’s Tourway experiences and supports the smooth flow of guests across multiple stations on property. The Assistant Hospitality Manager (AHM) leads by example on the floor, ensuring seamless guest arrivals, transitions, and departures while overseeing high‑volume, self‑guided tour and tasting operations. With a balance of hands‑on hospitality, operational oversight, and team leadership, this role plays a critical part in maintaining Sterling’s reputation as a premier Napa Valley destination. You will inspire and develop a team to deliver personalized hospitality in a fast‑paced environment while upholding Sterling’s service standards, brand integrity, and financial goals. Through strong leadership, attention to detail, and anticipation of guest needs, the AHM helps elevate Sterling’s reputation as a premier Napa Valley destination.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of DTC wine sales or guest service experience and a strong record of meeting targets.
  • Confident coaching teams of 15+ and inspiring performance through motivation and mentorship.
  • Deep wine knowledge and can confidently educate guests on winemaking and wine styles.
  • Organized, self‑motivated, and comfortable managing daily operations.
  • Communicate clearly, and are tech-savvy with MS Office, POS and reservation systems.
  • Enjoy working flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays, and represent the brand with professionalism and polish.
  • Can lift 40 lbs, are at least 21, and are willing to occasionally travel.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and motivate a team of 20-30 Tasting Room Associates to achieve DTC revenue, wine club conversion, data capture, and AOV goals.
  • Maintain cost controls, inventory, and sales incentives to drive performance.
  • Uphold guest service standards; engage with guests and resolve service issues.
  • Oversee development and delivery of premium experiences, including food and wine pairings and elevated service training.
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Central Operations, Retail, and Culinary teams on programming, Tock experiences, and POS setup.
  • Recruit, train, schedule, and mentor staff; conduct performance reviews and lead daily pre-shifts.
  • Manage daily operations including opening/closing, cash handling, POS troubleshooting, and compliance with safety and beverage service standards.
  • Build local hospitality relationships act as an ambassador at special events and support wine club engagement.
