About The Position

This role involves assisting the head coach in managing the Henley High School Girls Soccer program. Key responsibilities include ensuring student safety, maintaining equipment and facilities, developing practice schedules, communicating with staff and media, and upholding district and school policies. The position requires a strong understanding of soccer skills, conditioning, injury prevention, and promoting good sportsmanship and academic progress among athletes. The coach must also represent the school professionally and constructively resolve conflicts.

Requirements

  • Must complete all OSAA and Klamath County School District required trainings and certifications.
  • Must obtain a CPR and First Aid Training Certificates.
  • Must be 21 years of age.
  • Physical ability to adhere to OSHA and district safety regulations.
  • Work within the district’s communicable disease control plan (blood borne pathogens).
  • Be aware of the existence and potential exposure to hazardous chemicals as identified on the MSDS sheets.
  • Has sufficient knowledge of the skills necessary for athletes to experience success.
  • Can demonstrate and teach the skills necessary for athletes to have the opportunity to experience success.
  • Assures that all necessary steps are taken to prevent injuries and has adequate training and/or trained assistants to deal with the care of injuries that may occur.

Responsibilities

  • Complete all OSAA and Klamath County School District required trainings and certifications.
  • Obtain CPR and First Aid Training Certificates.
  • Ensure student safety and security.
  • Maintain accurate inventories and arrange for proper issuance and cleaning of equipment.
  • Maintain facilities and equipment in usable and safe condition, reporting areas in need of attention.
  • Keep staff informed of duties at practices and contests.
  • Set up well-organized practice schedules adhering to district and state policy and regulations.
  • Maintain good communication with the entire coaching staff.
  • Maintain good communication with media.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and adherence to district and school philosophy and policies.
  • Maintain accurate and timely eligibility reports, inventories, budgets, rosters, and accident/injury reports, insurance documentation and physical exam validations.
  • Supervise assistant coaches regarding their responsibilities, performance, and professional qualities.
  • Supervise athletes regarding practice and game responsibilities, rules, strategy, goals, and inherent risks.
  • Demonstrate and teach necessary soccer skills for athlete success.
  • Institute a program of ongoing physical and mental conditioning.
  • Instill in athletes the need and importance of properly preparing for their sport.
  • Take necessary steps to prepare self and athletes mentally and physically for game situations.
  • Take all necessary steps to prevent injuries and have adequate training or trained assistants to deal with injuries.
  • Ensure all teams represent their school with conduct and appearance beyond reproach.
  • Instill a playing style and attitude that causes teams to actively seek success.
  • Emphasize the importance of good scholarship and sportsmanship.
  • Follow up on the progress of each individual athlete in scholarship and sportsmanship, counseling those in need.
  • Represent the team and school in a professional manner.
  • Work to resolve differences with officials, scorekeepers, staff, other coaches, parents, and audience members constructively.
