About The Position

Under the general supervision of the Director, the Assistant Director is responsible for assisting in the administration of the program. This role involves planning and coordinating recreational and educational activities, encouraging participation, and taking attendance for virtual programming. The Assistant Director will also assist in crisis intervention for client emergencies and health or mental health deterioration. They will work with the Director on program planning and development, maintain activity logs and attendance records in the STARS/PeerPlace database, and compile statistics and prepare reports. A key responsibility is maintaining an updated resource file on benefits and entitlements. The role includes registering and screening new and current clients, providing Case Assistance and Information/Referrals, and ensuring client files are complete, organized, and properly stored. The Assistant Director must ensure units and case notes are entered regularly into the STARS/PeerPlace database to comply with funder requirements and understand DFTA standards, ensuring compliance and locating records for regulatory agencies in the Director's absence. They will interact directly with seniors, staff, volunteers, and vendors, ensuring staff follow protocols and consulting the Director on disciplinary issues. In the Director's absence, the Assistant Director will supervise the cook, overseeing meal preparation and ensuring compliance with nutritional safety standards. The role also involves representing the agency in community and interagency activities and performing other related duties as assigned.

  • Bachelors Degree in social work, counseling, psychology, gerontology or nursing and one year of human service experience (this may include internships); or Bachelors Degree in an unrelated field and two years of human services experience; or Associates Degree in human services field with two years of direct senior center experience or three years of human service experience and/or case assistance experience; or High School Graduate or GED equivalent with five years of experience in Senior Center/Social Adult Day or Case Assistance experience.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for understanding DFTA standards and in the absence of the Director, be able to ensure compliance and locate records for DFTA and DOH and other regulatory agencies upon request.
  • Interact directly with seniors, staff, volunteers, and program vendors.
  • Ensure that staff are following necessary protocols and consult any issues leading to or needing disciplinary actions with Director.
  • In the absence of the Director, supervise the cook in all aspects of meal preparation and ensure compliance with all nutritional safety and compliance standards.
  • Represent agency in community and interagency activities.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Directly supervise custodian.
  • Supervise custodial and administrative volunteers/interns and sign time sheets as needed.
  • Provide leadership and direction to direct reports to ensure the delivery of high performance, acting as an enthusiastic, positive and motivated coach.
  • Along with the Director, responsible for the performance management of the teams to ensure that quality and deadlines are achieved and maintained and that any issues are managed in line with RiseBoro policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Assist the Director in training programs for new staff and identify training needs for current staff.
  • In the absence of the Director, the Assistant Director will assume responsibilities of the Director.
