About the position

The Assistant Director of Talent & Culture at Fairmont Orchid plays a crucial role in managing the Talent & Culture Department, ensuring a supportive environment for all colleagues. This position focuses on enhancing the employee experience through various initiatives related to talent management, engagement, and organizational development, while promoting the Fairmont philosophy of recognition and value for contributions.

Responsibilities

  • Support the management of the Talent & Culture Department.
  • Lead and provide support to the Talent & Culture team members.
  • Manage day-to-day operations of the Talent & Culture Department.
  • Promote positive colleague relations through open communication and mutual respect.
  • Organize and participate in employee functions.
  • Assist in assessing organizational needs and developing aligned Talent & Culture solutions.
  • Manage and oversee the recruitment process.
  • Implement retention strategies to fulfill business objectives.
  • Support ongoing feedback and coaching to improve performance.
  • Assist departmental leaders in developing action plans based on colleague feedback.
  • Communicate Talent & Culture policies and procedures to all leaders and colleagues.
  • Ensure employee final pay is accurate and timely.
  • Conduct exit interviews with departing colleagues.
  • Provide assistance with employee relations issues and coaching.
  • Participate in departmental financial budgeting and month-end processes.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of Human Resources Leadership Experience in a hospitality setting.
  • Previous experience in a unionized environment required.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and oral communication in English.
  • Experience in Talent Acquisition and Union is a strong asset.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills.
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Office applications.
  • University/College degree in a related discipline preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions with strong initiative.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with all levels of talent.
