The Assistant Director of Nursing helps to organize and direct the administration of the nursing facility under the direction of the Director of Nursing. Applies the management concepts of planning, organizing, collaborating, and directing activities to implement the clinical nursing program in defined areas. Establishes policies and procedures to comply with Federal, State and local laws, regulations, codes and current practice standards. The Assistant Director of Nursing has delegated authority to take immediate and appropriate action in the event of an emergency where there is clear and present danger that poses a threat of personal injury, or a threat of damage to property or equipment in the absence of the Director of Nursing. The Assistant Director of Nursing assists with recruitment, retention, training and continuing education of department staff. The Assistant Director of Nursing is designated to act in the absence of the Director of Nursing. Must be able to provide and understand the specific communication, developmental, treatment needs of patients, families, and visitors ranging in age from early adult to late adult.
