About the position

The City of Bellevue is seeking an experienced and strategic Assistant Director of Human Resources to join its HR team. This role is crucial in shaping and leading HR initiatives that enhance employee engagement, recruitment, and organizational development. The Assistant Director will collaborate with the HR Director and other Assistant Directors to develop and implement HR strategies that align with the city's goals, fostering a high-performance culture and ensuring exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement workforce planning and organizational development initiatives.
  • Drive initiatives aimed at optimizing organizational effectiveness and fostering a positive workplace culture.
  • Collaborate with HR Leadership to develop policies and programs identified as city priorities.
  • Develop and implement innovative recruitment and outreach strategies to attract diverse talent.
  • Assess exit interview information and develop a retention strategy in collaboration with department leadership.
  • Lead the design and administration of employee engagement surveys and implement actionable improvements.
  • Collaborate with management to design and deliver comprehensive training programs.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in human resources, public administration, business, communications, or related field.
  • Five to eight years of progressively responsible experience in human resources, including recruitment, organization development, and training.
  • Supervisory experience is required.
  • Experience with recruitment and selection, outreach, and HR technology.
  • Strong organizational development experience, including building and implementing HR systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Project management background preferred.
  • Relevant education credentials including HR or leadership certifications are highly desired.
