About the position

The City of Bellevue is seeking an experienced and strategic Assistant Director of Human Resources to join its HR Management Team. This role is crucial in shaping and leading HR initiatives that enhance employee engagement, recruitment, and organizational development. The Assistant Director will collaborate with the HR Director and other Assistant Directors to develop and implement HR strategies that align with the city's goals, fostering an inclusive and engaged workforce dedicated to serving the community.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement workforce planning and organizational development initiatives that support HR's strategic role in building a high-performance culture.
  • Drive initiatives aimed at optimizing organizational effectiveness and fostering a positive, engaged, inclusive workplace culture.
  • Collaborate with HR Leadership to develop policies and programs identified as city priorities.
  • Develop and implement innovative recruitment and outreach strategies to attract diverse talent, ensuring alignment with the city's values and workforce needs.
  • Assess exit interview information, gather input, and develop and execute a retention strategy in collaboration with department leadership.
  • Lead the design and administration of employee engagement surveys, analyze results, and partner with stakeholders to implement actionable improvements to enhance employee satisfaction and retention.
  • Collaborate with management to design and deliver comprehensive training programs that enhance staff competencies, strengthen leadership, and promote a culture of continuous learning.

Requirements

  • 5 years of management experience in human resources or a related field.
  • Senior level leadership experience in HR or organizational development.
