About the position

The Assistant Director, Counselor Liaison at Texas A&M University is responsible for developing and managing recruitment strategies aimed at enhancing relationships with high school counselors and community organizations. This role involves extensive travel, supervising regional staff, and serving as a resource for senior leadership within the Undergraduate Recruitment office. The position focuses on increasing the enrollment of high-achieving students and requires strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute recruitment strategies for high school counselors and community organizations.
  • Coordinate and implement regional programs and events to enhance counselor relations.
  • Identify and recruit high-achieving students to increase enrollment.
  • Supervise regional recruitment staff and provide training and support.
  • Serve as a resource for senior leadership in the Undergraduate Recruitment office.
  • Manage recruitment and training programs for staff.
  • Conduct presentations and establish community contacts for recruitment activities.
  • Collaborate with university departments and external organizations for recruitment efforts.
  • Track and manage prospective students and resolve admissions issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Six years of progressively responsible experience in admissions, recruitment, advising, financial aid, or outreach.
  • Knowledge of financial aid programs and federal regulations relating to student financial aid.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask in a detail-oriented environment.
  • Ability to work well with counselors, students, and parents.
  • Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet programs.
