About the position

The Assistant Director of Clinical Supervision and Training at the University of Northern Iowa is responsible for providing clinical services and overseeing training to ensure high-quality, ethical, and effective care in the Counseling Center. This role includes facilitating methods to promote excellent clinical performance, ensuring compliance with ethical and accreditation standards, and managing a clinical caseload that involves various counseling and assessment activities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical services and training oversight to ensure quality care in line with the treatment model of Psychiatric and Counseling Services.
  • Facilitate methods for promoting excellent clinical performance and high-quality clinical services to all clients in the Counseling Center.
  • Assist the Director in providing clinical supervision and ensuring compliance with ethical and accreditation standards.
  • Carry a clinical caseload of clients, including initial triage screening and assessments, risk assessment, crisis management, individual/group/couples counseling, psycho-education, psychological assessment, and referrals to campus or community services.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in mental health counseling, social work, marriage and family therapy, or a related field.
  • Current Iowa licensure as a mental health therapist or licensed independent social worker.
  • At least three years of clinical experience related to counseling or assessment and diagnosis.
  • Experience with crisis intervention and consultation.
  • Experience providing supervision and clinical training in a college counseling center.
  • Knowledge of current professional research and best practices related to counseling center operations, clinical services, and clinical training programs.
  • Experience providing clinical mental health services to diverse populations.
