About the position

The Assistant Cultivation Manager is responsible for the daily oversight of a cannabis cultivation facility, ensuring compliance with regulations and company policies. This role involves managing cultivation staff, maintaining product quality, and implementing cultivation schedules to optimize production. The Assistant Cultivation Manager plays a key role in training staff, enforcing safety protocols, and ensuring the needs of the plants are met throughout their growth cycles.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the cultivation facility including propagation, vegetation, and flowering stages.
  • Manage and supervise Cultivation Supervisors and Cultivation Associates, ensuring proper scheduling and coverage for cultivation needs.
  • Enforce adherence to fertilization, irrigation, and feed schedules.
  • Implement an integrated pest management (IPM) plan in accordance with regulations.
  • Ensure execution of established cultivation standard operating procedures (SOPs) and update as necessary.
  • Monitor and maintain proper light intensity, irrigation, fertilization, and sanitation for plant health.
  • Conduct daily quality inspections of plants and their environment, resolving issues promptly.
  • Maintain equipment functionality and oversee repairs and replacements as needed.
  • Manage inventory of cultivation supplies and place orders as necessary.
  • Train Cultivation Associates during onboarding and when procedures change.
  • Collaborate with Facility Operations Manager to update SOPs and address plant-specific issues.
  • Ensure proper labeling, tagging, and traceability of plants, correcting inventory discrepancies as needed.
  • Assist in calculating production yields and identifying areas for improvement.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; two-year degree in horticulture or agricultural field preferred.
  • At least two years of relevant work experience in hydroponic vegetable production or bedding plant production facility desired.
  • Experience with automation systems is required.
  • Knowledge of medical marijuana regulations preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in data entry and strong computer skills.
