About the position

The Assistant Construction Project role at a prominent construction company in Ventura, CA, involves overseeing construction projects from inception to completion. The ideal candidate will ensure efficient execution of all project aspects while collaborating with various stakeholders, including contractors, architects, and clients. Strong project management skills are essential for success in this position.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise subcontractors, monitor performance, and address any issues that arise.
  • Maintain and update project schedules using Smartsheet or similar software.
  • Assist in managing construction budgets by tracking expenses, identifying variances, and handling RFIs.
  • Support the achievement of project goals by establishing standards and protocols, coordinating with staff and subcontractors, and resolving design challenges.
  • Promote a safe and secure work environment by enforcing safety standards, complying with regulations, and conducting weekly safety meetings.
  • Stay informed about emerging construction practices and industry standards.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction plans and drawings.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Procore, and Smartsheet.
  • Comprehensive understanding of all construction phases, from grading to interior finishes.

Nice-to-haves

  • OSHA and/or first aid and CPR certifications are a plus, but not required (training will be provided upon hiring).
  • Ability to perform quantity surveys from plans is a plus, along with familiarity with basic estimating formats and cost centers.
