About the position

The Assistant Coach for Softball at Mohawk Valley Community College (MVCC) plays a vital role in supporting the Head Coach and enhancing the athletic experience for student athletes. This position is focused on recruitment, retention, and the overall development of student athletes, ensuring they achieve their academic and athletic goals while adhering to institutional and NJCAA regulations.

Responsibilities

• Assists Head Coach with recruitment and retention efforts of student athletes
• Guides student athletes in accomplishing their academic and athletic goals
• Ensures the safety and well-being of student athletes
• Complies with all institutional and departmental policies and procedures, Athletic Department Handbook, and NJCAA by-laws and eligibility rules
• Helps student athletes understand the relationship between academics and athletics
• Completes all necessary institutional, departmental, and NJCAA paperwork and correspondence
• Assists with program goals and direction
• Assumes head coaching duties in the absence of the Head Coach
• Is present anytime members of the team are assembled in an official capacity unless alternative arrangements are made with the Head Coach
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Head Coach

Requirements

• Associate degree (or 60 credit hours completed)
• Minimum of two years of playing and/or coaching experience
• Valid driver license at the time of and duration of appointment
• Ability to travel and work a flexible schedule
