The University of Arizona invites applications for the full-time position of Assistant Coach for the Men's Basketball team. This role is integral to the Athletics Department, which is committed to excellence in collegiate sports and fostering a culture of integrity, innovation, and student-athlete success. The Assistant Coach will report directly to the Head Coach of Men's Basketball and will be expected to operate within the rules and regulations set forth by the University, the Conference, and the NCAA. This position requires a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends, as well as travel for competitions and recruiting activities. In this role, the Assistant Coach will assist with on-floor coaching duties and the day-to-day preparation of practice sessions. Responsibilities will include managing underclassmen, maintaining recruiting lists, and organizing recruiting strategies to target specific recruits. The Assistant Coach will also be involved in scouting and preparing for games against opponents, coordinating film edits of student-athletes, and maintaining consistent contact with high school and junior college coaches. Additionally, the role involves securing transcripts and schedules from recruits, responding to correspondence, and assisting with summer camps and individual instruction. The Assistant Coach will also interact with donors and supporters of the program, speak to civic and community groups, and assist with weekly phone calls to recruits. A key aspect of this position is to counsel and encourage student-athletes, working closely with the C.A.T.S. Academics program to address any academic needs. The Assistant Coach must stay informed about NCAA rules and regulations, monitor recruiting paperwork, and assist with all official and unofficial recruiting visits. Other duties may be assigned as necessary, making this a dynamic and multifaceted role within the Athletics Department.
