About the position

The Assistant Coach for the JV Baseball team at Kamehameha Schools Maui is a temporary, seasonal role for the 2024-2025 school year. This position involves coaching and developing student-athletes, ensuring their growth in skills and sportsmanship while adhering to the values of Kamehameha Schools. The role requires effective communication, organization, and the ability to motivate and inspire young athletes. The position is compensated with a one-time stipend of $3,145.00 for the season, which runs from November to February.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the coordination of the Kamehameha Athletic Sports program.
• Coach and instruct students in baseball, demonstrating knowledge of rules, skills, tactics, and techniques.
• Evaluate athlete and team performance and progress.
• Teach individual and team skills to athletes.
• Organize and supervise safe and efficient practices and games.
• Prepare the team for games/matches/meets.
• Conduct oneself in an ethical and professional manner, serving as a positive role model.
• Motivate and inspire players while promoting sportsmanship and respect for game rules.
• Handle administrative responsibilities such as grade checks and student-athlete records.
• Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, faculty, and the community.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 1 year experience in coaching.
• National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) Fundamentals of Coaching Certification.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple assignments.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
