About the position

The Assistant Coach for JV Baseball at Kamehameha Schools is responsible for coordinating and assisting with the Kamehameha Athletic Sports program. This role involves coaching and instructing student-athletes, developing their skills, and ensuring a positive and respectful environment that aligns with the school's philosophy of athletics. The coach will also handle administrative responsibilities and communicate effectively with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates thorough knowledge of sport including rules, skills, tactics, and techniques.
• Translates sports knowledge to athletes and evaluates their performance and progress.
• Teaches individual and team skills to athletes and assists them in reaching their full potential.
• Organizes and supervises safe and efficient practices and games.
• Conducts self in an ethical and professional manner, serving as a positive role model.
• Develops team concepts within a values-driven framework and promotes sportsmanship.
• Handles administrative responsibilities such as resolving disciplinary issues and ensuring eligibility.
• Communicates effectively with athletes, parents, faculty, and the community.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 1 year experience in coaching.
• National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) Fundamentals of Coaching Certification.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple assignments.
• Previous coaching experience.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
