About the position

The Assistant Chief Maintenance Engineer at Exegistics is responsible for overseeing maintenance operations, ensuring the efficient functioning of machines, tools, and equipment, and maintaining the facility's utility systems. This role involves direct supervision of maintenance staff, development of preventive maintenance programs, and coordination of repair and installation activities. The position is designed for a candidate ready to step into a leadership role, with opportunities for growth and relocation assistance offered.

Responsibilities

  • Directs and coordinates activities of maintenance and installation of machines, tools, and equipment.
  • Schedules repair, maintenance, and installation of machines to ensure continuous production operations.
  • Coordinates activities of workers fabricating, modifying, or repairing machines, tools, or equipment.
  • Directs maintenance activities on utility systems to provide continuous supply of heat, steam, electric power, gas, or air required for operations.
  • Develops preventive maintenance program utilizing equipment manufacturer's recommendations.
  • Reviews production, quality control, and maintenance reports to plan and modify maintenance activities.
  • Inspects operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards.
  • Plans, develops, and implements new methods and procedures to improve operations and minimize costs.
  • Reviews new projects and discusses equipment needs with management.
  • Requisitions tools, equipment, and supplies required for operations.
  • Directs training and orientation of workers to improve performance and acquaint them with company policies.
  • Directs ongoing training program to keep maintenance employees' knowledge current with technology advances.
  • Prepares department budget and monitors expenditure of funds.
  • Directs janitorial activities to ensure plant cleanliness.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in Commercial Laundry/Linen/Uniform Services preferred.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals and technical procedures.
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and geometry.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Class 1-A Boilers License and maintenance electrical license are desirable.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Boiler experience/knowledge/license is highly desired.
