About the position

The Assistant Branch Manager (ABM) at Metro Credit Union plays a crucial role in supporting the Branch Manager in the daily operations of the branch. This position involves overseeing personnel administration, operations, security, member service, and sales. The ABM serves as a financial consultant to members, resolves issues, and contributes to branch sales goals while ensuring a high level of member satisfaction. The role also includes training and coaching employees, managing branch cash, and stepping in as Branch Manager when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Branch Manager in daily operations of the branch.
  • Supervise branch staff and manage schedules.
  • Train and coach employees to enhance performance.
  • Resolve service issues to ensure member satisfaction.
  • Balance individual work, branch vault cash, and ATMs accurately.
  • Provide approvals and system overrides for transactions exceeding employee limits.
  • Monitor individual and branch contact events and ensure closure within standards.
  • Order and supply cash for branch operations throughout the day.
  • Process various transactions including deposits, withdrawals, and loan payments.
  • Respond to member inquiries regarding policies and procedures.
  • Open consumer deposit accounts based on needs assessments.
  • Contribute to sales and referral programs and branch sales goals.
  • Cross-sell products and inform members of new services.
  • Attend retail branch management and sales meetings.
  • Review daily work for accuracy and compliance with account opening requirements.
  • Conduct consumer loan interviews and assist with loan applications.
  • Maintain confidentiality of member information.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of one year of supervisory experience required.
  • 2-3 years of banking experience required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong math and accounting skills.
  • Excellent personal and professional leadership skills.
  • Understanding of banking regulatory matters and procedures.
  • Ability to perform various banking procedures and operations.
  • Ability to remain professional and composed under pressure.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite; COCC experience preferred.
