About the position
The Assistant Athletic Trainer at Roger Williams University plays a crucial role in supporting the Athletic Training Staff by managing various aspects of the intercollegiate athletic training program. This position involves evaluating and treating student-athletes, ensuring compliance with medical standards, and providing immediate care during athletic events. The role emphasizes education, risk assessment, and rehabilitation strategies tailored to the needs of student-athletes.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Athletic Training Staff in all aspects of the intercollegiate athletic training program.
- Evaluate student-athlete injuries and conditions using standardized clinical practices.
- Provide immediate care procedures for emergency situations during event coverage.
- Determine appropriate treatment and rehabilitation strategies for student-athletes.
- Administer athletic training policies and procedures in accordance with BOC Standards of Practice and NATA Code of Ethics.
- Maintain comprehensive medical records and manage athletic training inventory and supplies.
- Supervise and educate student first aid staff.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a sports-related discipline.
- Certification as an Athletic Trainer (AT) by the Board of Certification, in good standing.
- Licensed or eligible for licensure under the Department of Health for the State of Rhode Island.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to function in a service- and team-oriented environment.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects under pressure.
- Valid driver's license.

- Master's Degree from a curriculum athletic training program.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience accepted at the University's discretion.
