About the position
The Department of Business at Concord University invites applications for a tenure-track position in finance at the Assistant/Associate Professor level, effective August 2025. Concord University prides itself on a 150-year tradition of preparing students to enter the workforce or continue their education through graduate studies. We are seeking highly qualified individuals to join our faculty, individuals who can apply their education and work experience to instruction that will enrich our students, further Concord's commitment to programs of excellence, and reinforce CU's mission to serve the region. This is a full-time position that includes teaching undergraduate classes in finance and/or courses in the MBA program. Additional responsibilities include academic advising, scholarship, and service.
Responsibilities
- Assume an active and collegial role in the planning and governance of the Department's activities and expectations.
- Teach a variety of undergraduate finance and quantitative courses with a 4/4 teaching load.
- Advise students and participate in curriculum review and development.
- Assess student learning.
- Serve on University and Departmental committees.
- Conduct scholarly research and be involved in service to the regional business community.
- Teach some classes at the University's off-campus site in Beckley, WV.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in finance or related area or a DBA with a finance emphasis from a regionally accredited institution.
- ABD candidates at the final stage of completion of the dissertation may be considered.
- Demonstrated teaching experience and competency (more than 2 years).
- Programmatic research and/or a prior record of publishing is essential.
- Ability to develop new course offerings in Finance and management discipline.
- Strong commitment to and understanding of the role of undergraduate and graduate business education.
Nice-to-haves
- Business experience.
- Quantitative skills.
- Ability to teach in the Information Systems area.
- MBA or other related master's degree for consideration for a Visiting Professorship.
