About the position

The position is located at the Hill Farm Research Station, Homer, Louisiana, and is a 12-month tenure track position. It involves 60% research and 40% extension responsibilities. The successful candidate will develop a comprehensive research program focused on forest resource stewardship practices, including forest establishment, intermediate forest stand improvement, and harvesting practices. The position allows for mentoring graduate students and participating in graduate education (M.S. and Ph.D.). The incumbent will work collaboratively with other scientists and stakeholders, generating publications and disseminating research findings effectively. The role also includes developing extension programs that support the Louisiana Cooperative Extension Service's forestry-based initiatives and establishing partnerships with forestry professionals.

Responsibilities

• Develop a comprehensive research program addressing forest resource stewardship practices.
• Mentor graduate students and participate in graduate education.
• Collaborate with other scientists and stakeholders in research projects.
• Generate publications for dissemination of research findings.
• Develop extension programs supporting Louisiana Cooperative Extension Service forestry initiatives.
• Establish partnerships with Cooperative Extension Service agents and specialists.
• Coordinate dissemination of new discoveries in forest management.
• Conduct workshops and conferences for forestry professionals.

Requirements

• Minimum of a Ph.D. in silviculture, applied ecology, ecophysiology, or related field.
• Training and/or field experiences in measuring tree growth and development.
