About the position

The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is seeking applications for a full-time, tenure-track position as an Assistant/Associate Professor in Architectural Design within the School of Architecture. This role emphasizes equal responsibilities in research and teaching, with a focus on innovative design and community engagement. The successful candidate will contribute to the academic and civic life of the School and University, with an expected start date of August 16, 2025.

Responsibilities

  • Teach two design studios and one seminar/lecture course per year.
  • Pursue an active research and/or design agenda.
  • Contribute to the civic life of the School, University, and community through service and engagement.
  • Engage in traditional scholarly research, design recognition, or community-partnered innovation.

Requirements

  • A professional and terminal degree in Architecture (B.Arch with a Post-professional master or M.Arch Professional).
  • Experience as a design studio instructor.
  • Evidence of professional and/or academic design work.

Nice-to-haves

  • Post-professional degree in Architecture or related design discipline.
  • Professional experience and/or licensure, or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience teaching and coordinating undergraduate and graduate Architectural design studios.
  • Experience demonstrating innovative teaching and research focused on design.
  • Work and research experience related to social justice and sustainability in architecture.
  • Experience bridging disciplines and contributing to contemporary design culture.
