About the position

The University of Kansas is seeking a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor of Architecture with a focus on Health & Wellness Design, starting in the fall of 2025. This role is integral to the Architecture Department's mission to prepare practitioners in the design of the built environment, emphasizing sustainable health practices. The successful candidate will implement coursework, foster research partnerships, and enhance programs related to health and wellness in architectural design.

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in health and wellness design, including studios and seminars.
  • Conduct research focused on the design of environments that promote human health and well-being.
  • Disseminate research through peer-reviewed publications and conferences.
  • Seek external funding to support research initiatives.
  • Serve on departmental, university, and professional committees.

Requirements

  • Master's degree or higher in architecture from an NAAB accredited program or equivalent.
  • Three years of professional experience in architectural practice.
  • Demonstrated record of research or professional work in health and wellness design.
  • Ability to teach courses in health and wellness design.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with academic and professional organizations related to health and wellness design.
  • Established record of teaching consistent with promotion standards for Associate Professor.
