About the position

The Assessment Assistant at Waubonsee Community College plays a crucial role in supporting the Testing Services Department by proctoring exams for students and community members. This position involves ensuring a secure and welcoming testing environment, managing check-in and check-out processes, and maintaining confidentiality throughout the examination process. The role requires proficiency in various testing platforms and the ability to troubleshoot technology issues, all while providing excellent customer service to a diverse population.

Responsibilities

  • Proctor exams for students and community members, ensuring compliance with testing regulations.
  • Perform check-in processes, verifying identification and guiding customers on appointment software usage.
  • Administer appropriate paper or online forms and review data in the student record system.
  • Promote test security by ensuring belongings are stored securely and providing necessary instructions and materials.
  • Set up approved testing accommodations, utilizing various technologies as needed.
  • Monitor testing integrity through observation and video surveillance, reporting any dishonest behavior.
  • Maintain a secure testing environment by adhering to test security practices and confidentiality agreements.
  • Troubleshoot technology issues that arise during testing.
  • Check-out customers by verifying program closures and distributing reports or instructions.
  • Assist with database entries and maintain electronic and paper files.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree preferred.
  • Minimum one year of technical support, customer service, or general office experience in a computer environment required.
  • Excellent computer literacy skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience in a networked environment.
  • Strong interpersonal, confidentiality, and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and apply logic when procedures deviate.
