About The Position

CMD is looking for skilled assemblers for Electrical Assembler, Mechanical Assembler, and Electro-Mechanical Assembler roles. The employee interprets engineering drawings to assemble, rebuild, and repair electrical and mechanical components of machinery for CMD products. This role involves setting up and operating a variety of power tools and using hand tools. The employee will collaborate with engineering personnel to make necessary changes and update print packages. Requirements

  • Ability to learn machine assembly to construct, rebuild, and repair machinery according to work order specifications.
  • Computer proficiency: ability to learn and utilize the Enterprise Resource Planning tool (ERP), Microsoft and ADP applications.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings.
  • Ability to set up and operate power tools.
  • Team player who is quality conscious, industrious, and detail oriented.
  • Mechanically inclined, ability to learn mechanical or electrical skills quickly.
  • Must have tools required to perform work.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States and adhere to CMD’s confidentiality agreement(s).

Nice To Haves

  • Technical training in mechanical assembly and/or electrical systems, blueprint reading, and basic machining skills, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Apply electronic theory and/or mechanical ability to layout, build, test, troubleshoot, repair, and modify equipment.
  • Assemble components, subassemblies, and systems according to engineering drawings.
  • Position and align parts in specified relationship to each other.
  • Mount assembled components and attach functional and cosmetic hardware such as caps, clamps, and knobs.
  • Connect components and route wires between individual components, using connectors, terminals, soldering, and other wiring procedures.
  • Verify alignment and tolerances of moving parts using measuring instruments such as dial indicators and thickness gauges.
  • Set up and operate a variety of hand tools such as drill press, saws, shear, and break.
  • Operate tow motor, pallet jack, hoist, pipe bender, pipe threader, and overhead crane to aid in the safe handling of raw materials and fabricated parts.
  • Use business system to enter time spent working on assemblies/subassemblies and to complete operations.
  • Prepare pipe using grinders, saws, and sand blasting equipment.
  • Use hydro-testing equipment to test pipe.
  • Use basic hand tools (screw drivers, wrenches, wire strippers, arbor press supplied by CMD).
  • Complete inspection checklist and inspect equipment for quality.
  • Coordinate with engineering to ensure Engineering Change Requests are submitted.
  • Ensure that Engineering Change Orders are processed and assembled.
  • Responsible for meeting ISO quality standards which require individuals to take responsibility for their own quality, verify their work is correct and then affix their signature to the appropriate documentation (i.e., drawing, etc.).
  • Assist other departments to optimize throughput.
  • Visibly support continuous improvement activities.
  • Participate in rapid improvement events.
  • Support transition activities, as required.
  • Maintain an open mind throughout the change process.
  • Work with others to continuously fuel improvement throughout the company.
  • Responsible for own safety.
  • Practice safe work habits and ensure all safety rules are followed.
  • Responsible for keeping the area clean and organized to ensure safe working conditions.
